Friendship course

Friendship course for children aged 8-12

Following the findings of the Schülerbarometer and other studies highlighting how much children and adolescents are affected by loneliness, we aim to create a small friendship series for teachers in primary and lower secondary schools. These booklets can be distributed to students and completed together under the supervision of the teacher, with discussions conducted in small groups within the classroom setting.

The documents are written with children, teachers and parents living in German with limited German. We will wait with providing further language versions (e.g. Turkish and Arabic) until we have stabilised this version (expected to happen in Summer 2025). If you are willing to volunteer to translate them at that point, please contact us.

Teacher and Parent self reflection

Rather than giving the resource to the kid and relying on the commentary for information, it is the opinion that both teachers, afternoon supervisors and parents should taste themselves before they serve the meal. We thus prepared an adult worded resource with exactly the same sequence of themes and questions, which we advise for the adults to do, potentially with another friend, before passing the resource to a child or the children in their class or afternoon group.
